Geography

The geographical coordinates of this region on the political map are 29.59°N (latitude), and 73.15°E (longitude), and it is 163m above sea level. Its total area is 8,878 km² (3,428 sq mi) in length. The region is the 54th largest according to the 2017 census. The city is a permanent residence of 2,981,919 people with a population density of 340/km² (870/sq mi). This region is one of the hottest districts of Punjab. Summers are sweltering between April – October and the temperature may rise as high as 50°C. Winters are short and chilly from November – February and the temperature may drop as low as -1°C. The town also experiences an average of 45mm of rainfall during the year.

The boundaries of District Bahawalnagar in the east and south touch the Indian territory while Bahawalpur district lies on its west and River Sutlej flows on its northern side across which Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal and Vehari districts are situated. District Bahawalnagar is spread over an area of 8,878 square kilometers and comprises five tehsils:
